Mike Power and his mother Kathleen founded Options for Independent Living as a registered charity in 2014. 

The mission of the organization is to help people with disabilities to live independent and productive lives. The organization currently has 50 residents living at the Options houses (along with a waiting list) all located near the Scottish Rite, in Hamilton, Ontario.
